Books are very important to us! Each class has a reading or book area and we have a main library. The role of Librarian is very important, with children in years 5 and 6 being able to apply for the role. The Librarians are interviewed for the position and then receive training in how to mend and shelve books, create interesting library displays and read to younger children. The Librarians maintain the library during lunchtimes and on a Friday lead story time for children in Beech, Willow and Oak classes. This is so popular that the children often have to be split into smaller groups so that everyone can see the pictures! The librarians also choose new books for the library when the School Library Van visits each term. They also have responsibility for spending the library budget to purchase new books.
There are also class librarians who help to maintain the main library and their class book area.
