Prayer of the Day

Thursday 30th April

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference

Wednesday 29th April

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you all with joy and peace as you trust in Him. Dear Lord, help us today to find joy in the small things. Bless us with reasons to smile, cause to hope and the joy of knowing that we can trust all things to you.

Tuesday 28th April

Be Kind: At a time when it is easy to think only of ourselves the words of Jesus reminds us to love our neighbour. May today be one where are thought are of the needs of others, extending the hand of friendship and support to those who are struggling. Lord help us to be a beacon of hope in our communities

Monday 27th April

Take courage. 1 Peter 5:7  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Life has slowed down considerably now that our country is isolating itself. It is a time where the usual routines of life have halted with new stresses, strains and worries are consuming our thoughts. Dear Lord, would you be with us today, help us to recognise our worries and entrust them to you.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference

Thursday 23rd April

Psalm 71:5 For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust.

Thank you Lord that we can look to you in times of trouble. Please would you help us to fix our eyes on the things that bring us joy, our family, friends, the signs of wonder as the earth comes alive with the signs of Spring.

Wednesday 22nd April

Father, today will you help us to bring all our worries and concerns to you.  Thank you that you will always listen to us. Thank you that nothing is too small to share with you and nothing is too big to leave out.  May we keep you at the centre of all that we do today, keeping our eyes fixed on you.  Thank you that you will walk with us no matter what we are going through.

‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze’
Isaiah 43:2

‘The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you, for you Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9: 9-10

Tuesday 21st April

One of the joys of living in Devon, as there are so many places you can be, where you can look and see the hills and countryside.  This is a constant reminder to me of who watches over us and where I go to for help.  Psalm 121 tell us:

‘I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip, he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you, the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore’.

Monday 20th April

Heavenly Father, as the lockdown continues, we pray you give everyone in our school community strength for the weeks ahead and for protection for everyone's health and wellbeing. Lord draw near to us all and help us to continue to look to you in this time of challenge. Give us peace in our every day moments and may our relationships with one another grow in love, at this time and beyond. May we be encouraged to live out of a place of increased kindness and to consider our school core values in all that we do.

Friday 17th April

Father, because you are with us, we are not overwhelmed.
Because you love us, we can be comforted.
Because of your promises, we have hope.
Because of your mercy and grace, we are forgiven.
Because of your strength, we can climb mountains.
Because of your strong arms around us, we can be lifted high.
Because you are a faithful God, we can trust in you.

‘Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.  My salvation and my honour depend on God, He is my mighty rock, my refuge.      Psalm 62: 6-7

Thursday 16th April

Father, we thank you for each and every child at our School.  We thank you for the joy they bring, for the gifts and abilities that you have given to each one.  Please will you bless them and watch over them. Grant them strength, patience and kindness at this time.  Will you grant them understanding and endurance as they deal with the challenges ahead.  Please protect them from anxiety and worry.  Grant them creativity to use their time wisely.  We ask your blessing on each family that they are part of, praying that you will draw them close to you and each other.

‘May the Lord bless you and keep, you may the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you’.

‘Jesus said, Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven  belongs to such as these’

Wednesday 15th April

In Habakkuk 3:4 we learn 'His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand.'

Thank you Lord for the seasons and the weather in our country. We praise you for the sunshine and know that no matter what our circumstances are, we can look out of a window and marvel at the Springtime colours around us. Help us to appreciate something that we see of your world today, Lord. Amen.

Tuesday 14th April 2020

Father, you have promised that when we ask for wisdom that it will be granted to us.  So we ask for wisdom for those in leadership, whether in Government, Business, Health Service, Emergency Services, Education and leaders of all essential services, that you will guide them and lead them. Please grant them integrity and discernment as they seek to lead, plan and direct.  Bless them with the strength that they need to stand through this testing time.  We thank you for their willingness to serve and we pray that you will be in their words and actions.

‘Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding’.  Proverbs 3:13
‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.   Provers 3; 5-6
