In-school Blog Week Beginning 22nd June
We have enjoyed another lovely week in school. Alongside out in-class learning, we enjoyed another brilliant forest school session with Mr Clifford on Wednesday. This week’s session was based around outdoor crafts and, alongside our usually fire making, the children had a chance to create dream catchers, some natural rope and do some star weaving.
In Key Stage 1 and Foundation, the children spent Wednesday morning making ‘Rain-makers’ and investigating which materials made the best sounds. Here are just some of their great creations:
In Key Stage 2, we had an art-themed Wednesday afternoon. The children were able to choose from a variety of activities, from observational sketches to digital art making to illustrations.
The Key Stage 1 and Foundation Bubbles got to enjoy playing with bubbles of their own as Mrs Hogan brought in her bubble machine!

We enjoyed another fantastic forest school session on Wednesday this week. The children used natural fibres to make ropes and bracelets, and also learnt about solstice, alongside our weekly fire making (and toasting some delicious marshmallows!).
It was Father’s Day on Sunday so in school this week we also spent some time using a mix of our computer skills and our creative art skills to create cards.
It was Refugee week last week, so as part of our PHSE learning in school, we heard the stories of several children and adults from around the world or had been forced to flee their homes due to conflicts, natural disasters or fear of persecution. We then thought about our homes and what the word ‘Home’ meant to us.

In KS2, we had another fantastic forest school session on Wednesday, with the focus being on trees. We learnt how to identify different types of trees and found a fun way to measure how all a tree is. In the afternoon in KS2, we then created watercolour paintings of trees around the school.
In KS1, the children had a really fun morning turning themselves into pirates and then also enjoyed a great forest school session in the afternoon. The theme for the week has been mini-beasts and the children have loved learning all about the tiny living creatures we find around us.
In KS2, we have been completing the learning set by all of our class teachers and we particularly enjoyed Mrs Blakesley’s DT challenge this, which involved us making and testing Truss bridges!

We had a super hero theme in school this as the children in our key worker bubbles returned after half term. The children took part in some really fun activities, designing their own super heroes, creating their own super hero games on scratch, making super hero masks and even composing their own super hero theme music on chrome music lab!
We have also been working hard to keep the school gardens healthy and growing, carrying out lots of weeding and watering! We treated ourselves to a few of the delicious strawberries that have been growing as a reward.
We were delighted to welcome back Mr Murrin this week and the children in school thoroughly enjoyed their PE lessons. We also welcomed Mr Clifford, who has replaced Mrs Harrison as our new forest school teacher. Our first session was focused around flowers.
