I have had a wonderful week with the key worker children of Woodbury School this week: it has been a real privilege. The children have worked very hard on their online learning set by their class teachers on Google Classroom. It has been lovely to listen to lots of readers this week and see their brilliant efforts.
Once the children complete their Google Classroom tasks we have enjoyed lots of outdoor learning, play, gardening, sports and much more! Take a look at this week’s enriching activities that have been thoroughly enjoyed..
Week ending 1st May 2020
This week in school the theme was Animal Kingdom. We have been completing our learning in the mornings and focussed on our theme in the afternoons. We have enjoyed creating giant watercolour paintings of our favourite animals and writing a list of animals beginning with every letter from the alphabet (this was a competition between the girls and boys – the girls won). We also really enjoyed our outdoor treasure hunt that Mrs Chapman created for us at the start of the week.
As the weather hasn’t been as nice, Mrs Temple-Murray made some Kahoot quizzes for us to play all about animals, we were very competitive and learnt lots of new facts we didn’t know!
For our spring display, some of the younger children completed some lovely pastel animals and the older children remained perseverant with their origami animals!
On Thursday and Friday Miss Bowyer, Ms Driesen and Ms Hopkins were in. Once everybody had arrived, we went into the hall. We played ‘duck, duck, goose’ and woke up our bodies with some exercise. When the sun shone, we went outside and enjoyed playing ‘hide and seek’ on the field :0
Max: "I have enjoyed doing art this week. Today I created a ‘splat’ painting. I also helped my younger friend with his times tables and he read his book to me."
We explored the Wildlife Garden and did some pond dipping. The children were excited to find many newts! Charlie told me that they are amphibians and Holly told me that they breathe underwater.
We enjoyed Joe Wicks fancy dress Friday this morning! There was also a special delivery of tadpoles, which we released into the school pond!
