Woodbury School lies at the heart of the village, a lively and dynamic rural community. Our ethos is very much one of working together to sustain and develop links and partnership between groups. This is echoed in the way our team works here at school.
The village overlooks the beautiful Exe estuary and is situated midway between the Cathedral City of Exeter, and the seaside town of Exmouth. The nearby Common is of significant scientific importance for its nature reserve and geological interest. The area abounds with historical sites such as the Beacon, and the Iron Age Fort.
Over time, classrooms have been added to the original school building complementing the original architectural style and offering many additional facilities, including a large hall and well appointed library. Recently a new classroom has been added to further improve the accommodation and enhance opportunities for teaching and learning.
The extensive grounds with its many trees and shrubs provide interesting outdoor space for the children to use, and a large field gives scope for sport and games.
We are able to foster a caring ethos, with older children being responsible for those younger than themselves. Our governors have made it a priority to keep each class at a manageable size so that teaching and learning can be most effective.
We are a Voluntary Aided Church School and encourage children to understand the Christian tradition, and respect other Faiths. The children are strongly encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and we place great emphasis on developing personal independence.
Our school values are Love | Co-operation | Responsibility | Respect | Honesty. View our School Values presentation here.
