Living life in all its fullness

Worship at Home

At Woodbury Church of England school, worship is at the heart of our community life. We gather in school to give thanks, reflect, and grow in faith together — but worship doesn’t have to stop when the school day ends. Worship at home is a wonderful way for families to share in God’s love and help children see that faith is part of everyday life.

Why worship at home matters:

  • 🏠 Strengthens family bonds – Taking time to pray, read the Bible, or sing together helps families grow closer to one another and to God.

  • 🌱 Encourages spiritual growth – Children learn that worship isn’t just something we do at school or church, but a way of living and sharing God’s love every day.

  • 💬 Builds understanding and reflection – Family worship gives children space to talk about what they’ve learned in school worship, reflect on Bible stories, and ask questions about faith.

  • 💖 Nurtures Christian values – Praying together helps children see how values like kindness, forgiveness, and hope shape the way we treat others.

  • 🌍 Connects home, school, and church – When worship continues at home, it strengthens the link between the Christian life of our school and the wider church family.

Simple ideas for worship at home:

  • Say a short prayer of thanks at bedtime or before meals.

  • Read a Bible story together and talk about what it means.

  • Light a candle and spend a few quiet moments thinking about people who need our prayers.

  • Listen to a favourite hymn or worship song and talk about its message.

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

 Matthew 18:20

Worship at home doesn’t need to be complicated or formal — just a few moments spent with God together as a family can make a big difference in helping children grow in faith, love, and thankfulness.
