Woodbury C of E Primary School

Modern Foreign Languages

At Woodbury Primary School we believe that the learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for our pupils.

It helps them to develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning.  Learning another language gives children a new perspective on the world, encouraging them to understand their own cultures and those of others. At Woodbury we explicitly teach French from years 3 to 6, this is done with the emphasis on practical communication of the spoken and written form.  We teach using songs and rhymes, using visual stimulus and through modelling and repetition..
